Self storage is a flexible, useful moving storage arrangement that offers customers unique access to their stored goods. We provide each customer with his or her own private room, configured to meet their personal or work needs. The customer has 24/7 access to that room and the opportunity to bring in, take out, or move the contents of their room as they wish.
In warehouse storage, the moving and storage company retains complete control over your room. If you wish to view or access your goods, you must make an appointment to do so, while a warehouse representative is present. Hours are restricted. With self storage, it is your room and your key! You can visit your goods unsupervised; the liability for the contents is yours.
It starts with a list of belongings you provide. Based on that list and our experience, we can convert the items listed into units of volume. Then, based on that volume – and any other needs you have – we can determine the room size that works best for you.
Generally, self storage facilities will not take responsibility for the contents of your unit because you retain control of its contents at all times. However, any warehouse facility that controls the inventory of your pieces will supply you with insurance options.
In addition to your monthly rent, you might be asked to pay a one-month deposit and you may be charged for a padlock. Some facilities may also charge a fee for the set-up of your account. (Moishe’s does not!) There may also be a holding charge, if you intend to move your goods.
In climate control storage, the entire climate, including humidity and temperature, is regulated and will not be permitted to fluctuate more than ± 1º. In temperature control storage, the potential range of temperature change is much larger and there is no humidity control. The temperature in such a facility will be similar to that of your house.
The main elements of self storage are security, size, accessibility, and affordability. Clients should be guaranteed that their items are always protected within a self-storage facility. That requires state-of-the-art technology like CCTV and 24/7 security personnel monitoring the self-storage facility. Every client requires a different type of storage and a self-storage facility should be fully capable of accommodating those needs. This includes a wide variety of self-storage unit sizes and customizable self-storage units to climate- and temperature-controlled self-storage units. Clients may require access to their own belongings at a moment’s notice and every self-storage facility should allow access around the clock. Lastly, self-storage providers should work to provide every client with affordable self storage.
