Packing Made Easy

Moving doesn’t have to be daunting and stressful. Just a little bit of preparation will save you a lot of time, money and hassle. You want to make sure your things arrive safely to their new destination.

So here it is, the most important things you need to know about packing:

1. Plan and Start-Early:This cannot be emphasized enough. The more time you give yourself to pack and prepare to-do lists or inventories, the less likely you’ll be in a panic right before the moving trucks arrive.
2.  Clean up & Throw Unneeded Things Away: Chances are you’ve got a lot of clutter you no longer need or want. Sort through you papers and belongings and decide what you want to keep and what is just taking up space.If you have children,let them pick out the toys they don’t want anymore and clothes that don’t fit. Have a yard sale or donate the things to charity. You’ll feel good about it and it’ll literally lighten your load.
3.  Proper Materials: There are specially made packing boxes for every kind of objects and those boxes should be used as often as possible. Order only proper and quality supplies and use lots of packing paper or packing peanuts to make sure your items are nice and cushioned. Everything is easier to move and store if it’s in a good sturdy box with items that are well-protected. There are boxes for dishes, wardrobes, files, pictures, mirrors, lamps, and electronics. There is a box for almost everything you own.
4. Packing Least used Items First: Now here’s the fun part, packing stuff up. Start with items you don’t use on a regular basis. Pack old files, books, seasonal decorations, things that are already in storage inside of your own home, etc.
5. Start in a Least Cluttered Room: You’ll want to pack room by room. Start in a spare bedroom or study and pack all its contents away first. When the room is ready, use it to store packed boxes so they are out of the way and any disorder is very much contained.
6. Labeling & Inventory: Keep the contents of each room together and clearly label or color coordinate the boxes so they are easily identifiable at the other end. If you can, write a list of contents on the top and side of each box. The more detailed the description, the easier it will be to find the important things later.
7. Pack Essentials & Valuables Separately: Don’t forget to pack things you’ll need along the way or immediately upon arrival to your new home or apartment! Everyone will need their own their own travel bag containing changes of clothes, towels, toiletries, prescription drugs, and whatever other personal items that are necessary.
   In addition to the travel bags (if the move is far enough to require one) you’ll also want to separately pack the things you.ll need as so on as you arrive to your new destination. This is a sort of supply box of the things you’ll first want to pull out when you’re in your new house. These items might include toiletries, bedding, first-aid kits, some basic kitchen supplies like cups, plates and silverware, and a tool kit for things that need fixed or reassembled.
   There are certain personal valuables might want to carry on your personally. This includes things like jewelry and important documents, like passports, insurance certificates, and identification When you are packing, don’t overfill large boxes with heavy objects. Place a few heavy items at the bottom and then fill up with lighter ones so the box is still easy to lift.
8.  Hazardous Items: Do not include flammable or hazardous materials in your packing. Basic things that might not seem hazardous should NOT be put into boxes. Ask your mover about items like paint, varnish, aerosol cans, ammunition and even cleaning materials.
