Back Up Your Computer Before Your Move

Backing up your computer is always an important thing to do, but when you’re moving, it’s extra important. Backing up your computer can be a minor nuisance, but compared to the risk of loosing all your data, it’s worth it. In the unlikely event that something happens to your computer during your move, you’ll be grateful to have a backup.

You have two main options when it comes to backing up your computer:

  • External Hard Drive
  • Online Backup

The main difference is that an online backup requires a good internet connection. You’ll also have to pay a monthly fee to store your data online. For around $100 you can get a decent external hard drive. External hard drives offer you a little less protection than an online backup because an external hard drive doesn’t protect against natural disasters, unless you store your hard drive in a different location from your computer. Remember if you get an external hard drive to make sure it has a larger capacity than your computer. Hopefully you’ll never need your backups, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
